Traveller and Cannon: 15 & 16

I haven't had much time to play lately, as I'm making a dress for my sister, but I did sneak in some playtime the other night and managed to get the next pair of foals aged up, so here they are.

A while back Teila adopted a foal to use as a stud for her two mares, as there were no readily available stallions for adoption.  This is Roamer, the sire for foals 15 and 16.  You may remember that little Domino didn't like him much.  I think Teila is concerned about the massive swelling on his back legs...

This wasn't the first time Teila had adopted a colt, but my game had issues with the first one.  I needed to go to bed so I saved after the little box to name your new horse came up, but I guess he wasn't really on my property yet.  When I went to load up my game I noticed that one of the horses in the family pic looked oddly round (and an adult, when he should have been a foal), and when my game loaded he was nowhere to be found.  The adoption guy was just standing outside my house with his van, but I was unable to interact with him at all.  He just stood there for a while not doing anything.  When going into Edit Town mode it showed the new horse as a member of my family, but when playing the family he wasn't there, didn't have a portrait, and couldn't be reset.  And I couldn't kick him out or put him up for adoption, basically sticking me with only five available breeding slots.  This would not do.

So I exited the game, deleted the save file, and reverted to the backup, which thankfully was only a couple of minutes behind.  This time my colt was delivered as an adult, and before my sims were in bed for the night he was an elder.  I did not feel like trying to get his relationship status up with both my mares before he died of old age, and at this point felt this horse was more trouble than he was worth.  The next morning Teila took him to the center to be sold.  Hopefully it was just a glitch brought on by unfortunate save timing, but I still held my breath while waiting for Roamer to be delivered.

Thankfully everything went okay with Roamer, and his first foal was a little colt of Prairie's named Traveller.  I was quite pleased with his coloring;  I liked the way his father just added some nice darker accent points to his mother's coat.

When Desi's foal was born I thought it must be a colt too, since the game wanted to name it Cannon.  Nope.  The poor girl got the unfortunate color combination of her sire's gray dapples on top of her mother's coat.

Given her name, I'm not terribly surprised she thinks of tanks.

She was lazy, and as a foal was constantly looking for somewhere to take a nap, even if she wasn't tired.

Meanwhile, Fern mourned the loss of her pet African Gray Parrot.  Chin up, Fern, you wouldn't want your face to stick like that would you?

That's a little better I guess...

Lovely...

Anyway, my mares are about a third of the way there /cheer.  The next pair of foals are on the way, and hopefully I'll get some time to play and post their update before too long.
